| I did my Ph.D work at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and Feminist materials accounted for 1/3 of my final oral examination for my doctoral degree in the field of Religion and Social Ethics. I went on to write my doctoral dissertation on the subject of the sexuality of political violence in Central America (a field in which I am now published), and I have made Central America my permanent home. | My doctoral degree is in the field of Religion and Social Ethics. Women's Studies, Women's Liberation Theology, and especially Feminist Social Criticism formed a large part of my studies and I wrote my doctoral dissertation in this area, a history of structures of violence against women in Central America. As a result of this professional interest, I was unsuccessful in finding a teaching position, since it is almost entirely women who teach women's issues.
