My first choice for Law School is at XXXX because of its excellent reputation, location in
San Francisco, and its focus on intellectual property and copyright law. I have long been
immersed in art and this is why I want to study law and later practice in San Francisco
since I see it as the foremost American city for art and artists. I have known for many
years that I wanted to pursue law as a career and work in the world of the arts. Thus, I see
XXXX as the perfect program in the perfect city, since so many major entertainment law
firms are based in the Bay Area, and this would be an ideal location for me to pursue my
legal study while making connections and networking in preparation for my future career,
doing internships at firms specializing in IP, copyright, and entertainment law.
I was born in Seoul, South Korea and came to the U.S. when I was 16. In these past nine
years, I have become very Americanized and have come to feel quite comfortable in my
new home, although I retain ties to my homeland and I have went back to visit during
vacations and even studied there as an international student. My assimilation process was
enhanced by the fact that I attended a boarding school where I was exposed to diverse
cultures, learning alongside international students from around the world. I graduated in
2006 from XXXX College in L.A. with a B.A. in Art History and the Visual Arts with a
special emphasis on Studio Art. Attending a liberal arts college exposed me to a broad range
of subjects and I think that I am well prepared to become a versatile attorney in my chosen
area of expertise.
Constantly developing my understanding and passion for Studio Art and doing internships at
two different art organizations during and after college provided me with the invaluable
opportunity to meet many people in the art field including artists, curators and gallery
owners. I have also struggled to constantly develop my awareness and understanding of the
business relationships between artists and art dealers/curators as well as artist's rights, such
