Hoping to begin graduate studies at XXXX University in the Department of Social and Cultural
Anthropology, I seek a thorough education and the development of excellent research skills
and professional experience, so that I will be able to advance in my dream of helping Iranian
women, studying them in their Diaspora. The origens of my interest are clear: having left Iran
myself for life in the West. I would very much like to write a Master’s Thesis on the subject
of women in the Iranian Diaspora.
My long term goals include having the privilege of teaching anthropology, doing research and
writing what is closest to my heart, women in the Diaspora. I needed to leave my native Iran
and join these valiant Iranian women living abroad in order to be able to find my soul, my
freedom, my realization and creativity. I have spent my life with English and I feel that this is
one of the strongest aspects of my application. Proud of my academic and extracurricular
accomplishments, I see myself as an open-minded, goal-oriented person who succeeds
through hard work.
I have been fascinated by literature, painting, and sports since childhood, and privileged
enough to have obtained a high quality education from the very beginning. My High School,
XXXX, is endowed with excellent education facilities and I was able to greatly develop my
skills in poetry, handball, and painting, also developing a keen interest in Literature and Art. I
received several awards for playing handball. My interests in Literature and Art, especially,
have inspired me to apply to continue my studies in Foreign Literature. By the time I was 18, I
had made up my mind to struggle to secure a seat in Foreign Literature and the admission into
the Foreign Literature Program was a very challenging task since it is enormously competitive.
First, I had to face KONKOOR (the National Level Entrance Examination), on the basis of
which only the top 2 to 3% of 1.8 million applicants are accepted for the finest college
programs. My diligence was rewarded by my being able to choose the major of my choice in
one of Iran's finest institutions.
