MSW and M.A. Women’s Studies/Social Work Dual Program (1,535 Words)--Japanese Woman

I believe that my diverse background and interests are one of the strongest aspects of my application. I have lived in Brazil,
Texas, Yokohama, and Michigan. I've traveled to almost to almost all 50 states and am going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks in
September to visit a friend in the Peace Corps. I am very open-minded and I hate prejudice and stereotypes. I have been
fortunate enough to be exposed to many different cultures through friends and family and this has helped me to broaden my
views and develop a diverse sense of self, self-worth, self-esteem, self-respect, all of which I firmly believe are necessary
ingredients for helping others .
The frequent moves that I had to make growing up were dreadful for my siblings and me, saying our goodbyes never got any
easier. Yet, my mother used to always say to us, “Every goodbye opens the door to a new hello,” we learned to take every
moment in stride and experience life with an optimistic and open mind, new people, new adventures and challenges, believing
that something wonderful would eventually come out of our painful tears. My mother’s words have never failed me—I have
grown and learned through every moment of the tough times, and this endurance has helped to prepare me for helping other
through tough times as well. Ever since I was a young girl, I enjoyed being around people and meeting new faces. I especially
loved it when friends and family would rely on me for comfort or come to me when they needed consoling. The feeling of
profound satisfaction that I felt after a conversation with a friend in need helped to make me stronger and fill me with a sense
of gratification and worthiness which has helped me to realize my professional calling in life.
I have not always been the confident woman that I am now. I had difficulties adjusting to new schools and people and often
felt uncomfortable with who I was. There were times in my life when I allowed others to shape my values and beliefs that
eventually led me into a spiral of depression and self-hate. Although discovering my true colors was one of the longest and
most difficult journeys of my life, it has also been most rewarding. Even by my first year in college, I was determined to
become a nurse midwife. I have always wanted to belong to a field that embraced women and believed that assisting them in
bringing new life into this world would be one of the most satisfying jobs I could be involved with. Although my passion for
saving lives and assisting clients has not diminished, it gradually became apparent that I was not suited for a career as a
nurse. While I have the greatest respect and admiration for people who choose to devote their lives as nurses, I came to the
realization that working in a hospital setting would be too impersonal for my disposition and gifts, and I am now convinced
that the more in-depth psychological interaction that characterizes the social work experience is a better fit for my personality
and individual gifts. This is why I transferred out of the nursing program after a year and a half of college and ventured into
the realm of psychology and women’s studies. The more educated I became about issues surrounding discrimination, such
as sexism, racism, homophobia, etc., the more involved I became in these issues and the greater my desire became to make a
contribution in these areas. At this point, I discovered the Social Work option, as way to harness my abilities to the
professional goals of supporting women and serving as an ally in the struggle for progressive social change, therapeutic
recovery, and the healing that can result from counseling.
I have been active for the last couple of years with a variety of social organizations that address my concerns, in the pursuit
of my dream, including SafeHouse, SAPAC, and the XXXX Office. My central goal in life is to help others and to make this
world a better place for future generations. I firmly believe that participating in this struggle is the best way to live, and that it
makes live enormously rewarding. I want to touch the lives of people in need on a daily basis. Whether that involves smiling at
a complete stranger on the street or having a deep and intimate conversation with a friend recovering from an abusive
relationship, I will always aspire to have a positive influence on the lives of people around me. I want to have the privilege of
reaching out to women who are struggling to survive the trauma of a sexual assault. I want to be able to reach out to a man
that has been taunted by others because of his sexual orientation. I want to reach out to children who are underprivileged and
are starving for love and affection. And, as a result of my education in psychology and women’s studies, along with my
involvement with numerous organizations throughout the community, I feel that I am a strong applicant for your MSW
program, especially because of my great determination to make my goal a reality. I strongly believe that the dual degree
program in Social Work and Women’s Studies at XXXX University is the best place for me to prepare myself for reaching
my professional goals and I want to thank you for consideration of my application.
I am a young woman from Tokyo, who has lived in Michigan for the last 13 years, after having lived and studied in Japan for
four years, with one in Brazil and five in Texas. I am writing this letter on behalf of my application to the MSW & Women's
Studies Dual Degree Program at XXXX University. I have been around the block at 23 and very much like learning and
exploring new things.
I graduated from the University of XXXX April of 2007 with my first dual degree, my B.A. in Psychology in addition to
Women's Studies. Being a woman is foremost in my life, and I think women’s issues should stand at the center of social work
reform and direct how this should transpire, along theoretical and political lines that are favorable to women and children. I look
forward to becoming ever-more creative in contributing to the debate from a ‘womanist’ perspective. My first choice for
graduate study, therefore, is XXXX University MSW & MA in Women's Studies Dual Degree Program. I am most interested in
social issues and social work in the context of gender and ethnicity. I believe that our society is oppressive to people that are
not white, male, hetero, and rich—and I want to spend my professional life struggling against this oppression as a social work
professional who takes it upon herself to care for the weaker members of society who have little power and little voice,
inspiring and empowering them to assert their rights and to protect and advance their interests. My long term goal is to
someday create my own non-profit organization for men and women of all ethnic backgrounds and experiences can join, feel
safe and appreciated, and in time help them to learn the kinds of modern day survival skills that can enhance their quality of life
and the inner strength—especially women of color, who have historically had less access to economic power than men.
I want to become a professional therapist with an excellent preparation in the core materials, theories, and methodologies in this
field. Perhaps after working for many years and gaining professional experience working for other, established organizations as
a therapist, I would be able to develop my own therapeutic organization geared especially—although not exclusively—to
women and members of ethnic minorities. I envision an organization where therapists could receive special training in multi-
cultural and conflict resolution issues. I also think that it is important for non-minority social work professionals to gain
ongoing sensitivity training in gender and multi-ethnic issues.
I want to take professional an humanitarian advantage of the fact that I am a native speaker, reader, and writer of Japanese.
While this may not be a dominant factor in my professional future as an MSW professional, I do want to use this gift in some
way, especially in terms of contributing to progressive social change for Asians and Asian Americans. My deepest passion is
the dream that I have of being one of the courageous and extremely determined people who labor to reduce the hatred in our
society—and between societies and promote peace and harmony, thereby making my own humble but unique contribution to
creating a more egalitarian world with higher levels of social justice and economic opportunity. The greatest contribution that I
might be able to make to society would be to reduce hatred and negative competitiveness, especially among females and
among females, especially Asian females. I believe this would be a giant step towards reducing violence towards women
because it would help to strengthen the bond and camaraderie between females, our solidarity, and our ability to fight back
against rape and domestic abuse on moral, economic, and legal levels.
We are proud to be active participants in the creation of a more just, global redistribution of academic resources. We wish to participate in the fomentation of the kind of academic community that fully represents all ethnic, national, or political groups that have been historically marginalized or oppressed.

Why Our Prices are So Reasonable Compared to Our Competition.
Helping people with their Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (different phrases for the same thing) is big business on the Internet.
No one really knows for sure since it is not regulated in any way; but it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of students seek help each year
with their Statement. This is because advanced study is so central to what they want for their future, and the future of their children. A well
written Statement often results in scholarship awards of tens of thousands of dollars—in other words, it is generally a good investment for both
the long and short term, a win/win situation. As a result, there are now hundreds of services providing Personal Statement of Purpose
assistance on the Internet and all have invested huge amounts of resources in an attempt to become competitive and stay that way.
We are able to keep our prices as reasonable as possible primarily because our writing team is based in the developing world: China, India,
Bolivia, etc. For one reason or another, family, the beach, economic living, working with a non-profit organization, etc.; all of our writers are
ex-pats with advanced degrees who choose to live primarily in the developing world. Some of our writers are activists, others social workers;
some are semi-retired. We are a team of North American (U.S. and Canadian) and British writers trained in a variety of areas including
Business, Law, Nursing, Public Administration, Education, Social Work, Engineering, and Biology. We share in common the fact that we enjoy
helping others achieve their dreams. It is also important to note that our writers work for less than professional writers in the US or Europe,
since we pass our developing world savings on to you--our client. And our General Manager assures you of state-of-the-art quality at the same
time that you receive maximum value for your investment..
Our prices are much more reasonable than our major competitors; www.accepted.com, for example, based in New York, charges $650.00 if
you are willing to wait, and $850.00 if you are in a hurry. Thus, we invite you to become part of a growing portion of those purchasing
assistance with their Personal Statement of Purpose on the Internet who are very glad that they turned to www.statementsofpurpose.com to
take advantage of the great value of our full, interview based service. Most people miss out because they do not know what is important to put
into their personal statement—and what is not. And this can be expensive because universities are generally very wealthy institutions that give
away billions of dollars of scholarship money to graduate students—but only to those that have very well-written Statements. It is best to seek
professional help and no one is better at this than we are. They just charge more money.
If you are available to answer any interview questions that we might have by email, then we can almost always finish your essay within no more than 3 days from the time that you make the payment on our web site and provide us with the information that we need. This is one of the great advantages of our service, that we provide rapid, timely service without asking clients for a rush fee. If you want changes made to the model essay that we send you, you must first make the indicated changes yourself. Then we will be happy to provide a final revision at no extra charge.

We do not charge a rush fee. Rather, we struggle every day, 7 days a week, to give all of our clients the best and quickest service possible. Our service has become quite popular since the quality of our work is very high and our prices quite reasonable as compared with most of our competitors. We attend to our clients in the order in which they have paid our fee here on our web site. Please note that our process often takes as up to 4 days, generally at least 3 days from the time that you have made your payment and finished submitting the information that you want taken into consideration. After making the payment, if you think of additional information that you would like to include in your statement and share it with us, please do so in an email message so that we will have that text to add to your file.
We generally use www.PayPal.com for your security and convenience. All that you need to do is fill out our Online Interview Form with sufficient detail and be sure to submit the information by clicking on the "Send Feedback" button. Sending us a resume or CV is important if you have one; and a rough draft is also very helpful as it helps to retain the authenticity of your unique voice. Please note that you do not need to register or open an account with PayPal or become a member of the service, all you need to do is follow the link next to the credit card icons that says 'continue' to pay with your credit or debit card. Our web site is set up so that you can make your payment either before or after you fill out our Online Interview Form. You can send supporting documents to our email at team@statementsofpurpose.com.
