MSW Social Work 7, Young Latino Man in California, 5 Pages, 1,632 Words, 9,068 Characters With Spaces

At the central core of my wanting to become a social worker is God. It is my Christianity that speaks to me to live a life of service for the
poor and underprivileged. While studying towards the MSW is not exactly like taking a vow of poverty, material riches are way down the
page on my list of priorities. I am a compassionate man, sensitive, a good listener; and I receive my greatest joy in life by working for
others. Being Latino is also an integral part of my professional self-understanding. I look forward to doing research and working
professionally in areas with large Latino populations, thus using my ‘Latinoness’ as a special professional asset. I think it is because going
to church is such a big factor in my life, that I have such a pronounced love for old people. This is why I am very determined to pursue a
special interest in Gerontology. But I am also very much engaged with young people and the need for preventative social services that can
help young men, mostly minority—and disproportionately Latino—who are at risk for juvenile delinquency and later serious infringements
of the law, typically resulting in jail time that all too often turns out to be the best part of one’s life. I want to work to keep people out of
the prison system. I am young and maybe I will have the special privilege of working with both of these important target populations
throughout my career.
Frankly, I think that my two major concerns, elderly people on the one hand, and young people at risk for drugs and legal problems on the
other, are quite compatible. I even have professional daydreams of some day bringing these two target groups together. I think that
children, generally speaking, benefit from being exposed to older people. I grew up loving elderly members of my Christian congregation
and I think that this is especially healthy. I would someday like to see more interest taken in bringing young and elderly people together—
especially for at-risk teens.
I want to become a professional social worker who has been awarded the MSW Degree at XXXX University because I want to do
everything that is within my power to enhance human well being and help meet the basic human needs of all people in my community,
especially its most vulnerable members. I want to work with poor people, as the scriptures suggest that we should; helping those most in
need, orphans and those who are socially marginalized. In the days of Jesus many who were in need of help were lepers, and I see the
lepers of today as the drug addicts, people who suffer and die from HIV infection, those who are dying alone in nursing homes with no one
to come and see them; I see all of these as ‘the poor’ and this is why I have a spiritual and professional calling to do all that I can to make
these people whole, empowering them so that one day many could even become happy productive citizens. I have seen people reject drug
addictions because of the power of community solidarity and this excites me very much.
At the very center of my long range dreams are visions of what I like calling “positive” living environments for older generations. At the
center of the vision is social interaction, because when I think of the physical environment, the most salient factor is of course the human
interaction. I like to ponder and reflect about a broad variety of strategies for how I might be able to contribute to my community by
inspiring greater social interaction with nursing home residents than is currently the case. Perhaps we need a new name for nursing homes,
I think about this as well, the stigma involved with nursing homes and those who reside there. The entire social structure surrounding the
nursing home is one of the many things that I look forward to learning much more about in your program.
I have the philosophy in life that it is important to participate, personally and professionally, in the pursuit of progressive social change,
particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and members of minority ethnic groups, those that in one way or
another have been oppressed based on their color/gender/age or some combination. I think compassion is probably my greatest strength and
I am an enormously friendly person, sometimes even starting conversations with total strangers, because I love listening to what others
want to tell me. I have become a master of communication, having carefully and steadily practiced strategies, for example, as to how to
keep a conversation going and taking it where you want it to go. I like helping people and seeing them smile while assisting them through
positive reinforcement.
My Mother, has been the foremost inspiration in my life in terms of social service to others. Now that I am an adult, I feel especially proud
of the way that my mom single handedly raised 3 children on her own; my father was sometimes around but tended to prefer the company
of other women rather than my mother. I am also especially proud of being a husband; I am a very loyal spouse and this is a reflection of a
broader sense of integrity in life that was instilled in me by my mother; she helped inspire me to a profound soul searching as to what I
really wanted to accomplish with my life and how to best go about organizing myself and setting goals. She always insisted that I treat
everyone with dignity and self respect regardless of color or economic standing. My wife has given me my beautiful baby girl and Nancy
has proven to me that real love does exist. She helps me to stay focused regardless of how tough the road becomes—she always clamors to
stay on for the ride and go for it.
My grandfather has been another formative influence in my life and my decision to become a professional social worker even though I
never got to meet him; the stories that my mother told me about how he had the will power to stop drinking when he wanted, how he
started his own newspaper "EL Echo de Nayaty" which is a respected newspaper in Mexico to this day. He was a hard working man and a
dedicated father and husband so I have always looked up to him very much. Service is what I most admire in people and my grandfather
was the kind of person who went out of his way to help others. Finally my daughter is also a motivating factor in why I want to go to
graduate school and study social work. She is the single most intense source of motivation in my life, the light at the end of my tunnel. She
has taught me so much about loving, teaching, and the special joys of raising a young child. She has motivated me to reach out and embrace
higher education in social work as a way to secure a more humane future for her and make our world a better place for her and all of her
neighbors to share.
I understand that the Social Work profession is largely determined by scientific inquiry into how those in need of special care in our society
might best be dealt with. I see the social work profession as especially bound by codes of honor and professional ethics that stress fidelity
to principle and the utmost professionalism in all aspects of one’s position as a social worker. The social worker, from this perspective, is
the one who is designated to apply the conclusions of scientific inquiry to concrete community institutions and policies. As a professional
social worker with an MSW from XXXX, I will see myself as an advocate for the target populations with which I am concerned and
working on their behalf. My dedication to social work is very much bound up with my love for the target populations to which I am drawn,
or better said, my love for old people, on the one hand, and the chronic sense of urgency that I see with at risk teens.
My family is very supportive of my going to graduate school and they are willing to help me in any way that they can. I would also be very
grateful for any financial aid that I might receive from XXXX. As a Latino man with an Asian wife, our little family is emblematic of
diversity and my great appreciation of diversity is one of my strengths as a candidate for your program. My psychology major was a good
choice insofar as it has prepared me well for facing many of the psychological challenges that I will confront in graduate school and as a
professional social worker. I am a very hard worker and a loyal collaborator. In fact, I have been with the same employer now for the last
10 years where I have a lot of supervisory experience. I have learned about human psychology on the job as well. I also assisted one of my
professors in doing mentor work at Compton CC. Being Latino is important to me as an example to the community, communicating
professionally in Spanish as well as English. We Latinos are hard working people that need a chance in society. XXXX has the best MSW
program in the area and I feel that they will provide me with the optimum credentials to be successful in the future as a social worker, by
setting a positive role model for other young Latinos to follow. I want to thank you for consideration of my application.

Why Our Prices are So Reasonable Compared to Our Competition.
Helping people with their Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (different phrases for the same thing) is big business on the Internet.
No one really knows for sure since it is not regulated in any way; but it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of students seek help each year
with their Statement. This is because advanced study is so central to what they want for their future, and the future of their children. A well
written Statement often results in scholarship awards of tens of thousands of dollars—in other words, it is generally a good investment for both
the long and short term, a win/win situation. As a result, there are now hundreds of services providing Personal Statement of Purpose
assistance on the Internet and all have invested huge amounts of resources in an attempt to become competitive and stay that way.
We are able to keep our prices as reasonable as possible primarily because our writing team is based in the developing world: China, India,
Bolivia, etc. For one reason or another, family, the beach, economic living, working with a non-profit organization, etc.; all of our writers are
ex-pats with advanced degrees who choose to live primarily in the developing world. Some of our writers are activists, others social workers;
some are semi-retired. We are a team of North American (U.S. and Canadian) and British writers trained in a variety of areas including
Business, Law, Nursing, Public Administration, Education, Social Work, Engineering, and Biology. We share in common the fact that we enjoy
helping others achieve their dreams. It is also important to note that our writers work for less than professional writers in the US or Europe,
since we pass our developing world savings on to you--our client. And our General Manager assures you of state-of-the-art quality at the same
time that you receive maximum value for your investment..
Our prices are much more reasonable than our major competitors; www.accepted.com, for example, based in New York, charges $650.00 if
you are willing to wait, and $850.00 if you are in a hurry. Thus, we invite you to become part of a growing portion of those purchasing
assistance with their Personal Statement of Purpose on the Internet who are very glad that they turned to www.statementsofpurpose.com to
take advantage of the great value of our full, interview based service. Most people miss out because they do not know what is important to put
into their personal statement—and what is not. And this can be expensive because universities are generally very wealthy institutions that give
away billions of dollars of scholarship money to graduate students—but only to those that have very well-written Statements. It is best to seek
professional help and no one is better at this than we are. They just charge more money.
If you are available to answer any interview questions that we might have by email, then we can almost always finish your essay within no more than 3 days from the time that you make the payment on our web site and provide us with the information that we need. This is one of the great advantages of our service, that we provide rapid, timely service without asking clients for a rush fee. If you want changes made to the model essay that we send you, you must first make the indicated changes yourself. Then we will be happy to provide a final revision at no extra charge.

We do not charge a rush fee. Rather, we struggle every day, 7 days a week, to give all of our clients the best and quickest service possible. Our service has become quite popular since the quality of our work is very high and our prices quite reasonable as compared with most of our competitors. We attend to our clients in the order in which they have paid our fee here on our web site. Please note that our process often takes as up to 4 days, generally at least 3 days from the time that you have made your payment and finished submitting the information that you want taken into consideration. After making the payment, if you think of additional information that you would like to include in your statement and share it with us, please do so in an email message so that we will have that text to add to your file.
We generally use www.PayPal.com for your security and convenience. All that you need to do is fill out our Online Interview Form with sufficient detail and be sure to submit the information by clicking on the "Send Feedback" button. Sending us a resume or CV is important if you have one; and a rough draft is also very helpful as it helps to retain the authenticity of your unique voice. Please note that you do not need to register or open an account with PayPal or become a member of the service, all you need to do is follow the link next to the credit card icons that says 'continue' to pay with your credit or debit card. Our web site is set up so that you can make your payment either before or after you fill out our Online Interview Form. You can send supporting documents to our email at team@statementsofpurpose.com.
