I worked as a peer mentor for three years in college with first year freshmen students. This helped me to develop many skills that are
especially useful in counseling, such as active listening, social perceptiveness, critical thinking, time management, and effective writing. I
have especially developed my ability to pay full attention to what people are saying, taking into consideration the various points that they are
conveying to me, searching for important connections and prioritizing. My studies of social perceptiveness have helped me to become
much more aware of people's reactions and why they react as they do. I have also learned about the importance of combining social
interaction with lesson plans and learning in general, and I met with the students that I was helping as a group, on a weekly basis throughout
their first year of college. This experience has helped me to better value and appreciates the various resources that group counseling has to
offer and the advantages that group work can bring to the learning process. We met to discuss academic techniques that would serve to
empower them and ensure their success in that critical first year. I also labored to develop and refine my organizational skills in maintaining
their files and keeping them current and accurate. Upon graduation, I began working as a family service worker for Head Start. I met with
families in order to work together with them to establish goals and assisted the students in achieving these goals, helping the parents with
techniques that helped to inspire them to better assist and support their children. This included an emphasis not only on educational goals
and practical vocational considerations, but also on the importance of attitude development and maintenance, including the importance of
recreation, rest, and leisure time. I met with teachers, mental health workers, and health assistants, working together on behalf of our clients
to establish a safe and productive educational environment. I conducted parent meetings and encouraged parental involvement in school
activities.
After 4 years with Head Start, I moved on to what is my current employment, working as a Service Coordinator for the XXXX Regional
Center. Here, I work with clients that have developmental disabilities such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome and other
afflictions that prohibit normal educational development. I help to ensure that they are receiving the services that are necessary in order to
fully address their needs. I labor to help my clients become better integrated with society and to live more fulfilling lives by taking a more
active part in day to day decision making that has to do with their schedules, opportunities, etc. I work collaboratively with teachers,
parents, school psychologists, principals and other school administrators through IEP meetings. I have an initial meeting with the client and
their parents to establish their objectives and then meet with them routinely on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are making progress
towards the goals that we have set. I have learned how to advocate effectively on behalf of my clients and to network with professionals
such as attorneys and doctors, helping to empower my clients and their parents so they can advocate for themselves as well.
I have consciously worked very hard over the course of many years to develop my capacity for inductive reasoning, combining pieces of
information to form general rules or conclusions and searching for relationships among what may at first appear to be unrelated events. I am
also very conscious of the necessity of deductive reasoning and I expend a great deal of concentration and focus on applying general rules
to specific problems in order to arrive at answers that make sense and help to resolve problems.
I have confidence that I will be an excellent educational counselor because I am resourceful, patient, a good listener, and can work well in a
team or on my own. My greatest passion in life is to have the privilege to assist the school system of my community at better integrating
family and school contributions to the child through collaboration between families and educational institutions in such a way as to better
prepare future citizens who are highly responsible and productive. My parents fled El Salvador to escape civil war and to provide me with a
better life, and I am most grateful for their concern that I make the most of the educational opportunities that America has to offer.
Similarly, I look forward to continuing to help students, probably through the difficult years of high school, to realize their full potential,
especially through the encouragement of parental involvement. I especially look forward to helping students from disadvantaged or
underprivileged families, helping to inspire the parents and students alike that they really can succeed in America even though they are from
a minority community. Helping underprivileged families to succeed educationally by point them in the right directions and helping them to
discover the myriad resources that are available to them to help students stay on track and not derail from the goals that they have set for
themselves.
I was born in El Salvador in 1978 but barely remember it, with my grandparents bringing me to my parents after they managed to establish
themselves in California. Thus, I feel like I have always lived in L.A. As a Salvadoran, one is among friends since L.A. is El Salvador’s
send largest urban population after the capital city of San Salvador. Being both Salvadoran and from the United States is crucial to my
identity, my educational philosophy and interests, and my professional goals. I celebrate diversity and seek to inspire a love for diversity
among my students.
I hold a B.A. in Psychology from XXXX University in Pomona, graduating in 2001. My first choice for graduate study is at XXXX
University to study for my Master of Arts in Education, Educational Counseling degree. I aspire to become an educational counselor
because the members of this profession are people that I have especially come to admire in the course of my life. I see this occupation as
having a great sense of meaning and fulfillment that comes with struggling zealously to help students understand themselves better and
overcome personal, social, and behavioral problems that have a negative effect on their educational and vocational success. I hope to make
important, positive contributions to the lives of many students in the years to come. I see this as the most profound contribution to my
fellowman that I might be able to make, helping others to avoid some of life’s pitfalls and find useful direction and guidance along the way
to becoming productive and creative citizens and responsible family members. I am especially interested in doing graduate work in the area
of student retention and parent involvement/support. I very much look forward to becoming a school counselor and working diligently
towards helping students stay in school by assuring that their educational, emotional, and vocational needs are met. I will do this by
wrestling with and having an impact on such issues as bullying, peer pressure, depression, and academic and vocational challenges.
I take great pride in the celebration of diversity and I look forward to catering to the needs of students from widely different cultural
backgrounds with a broad range of learning abilities and social skills, monitoring their progress and helping them to determine their
priorities, in light of the resources that are available. I see myself working in a collaborative manner in the future with influential people in
students lives such as their parents, teachers, principals, and health professionals. I have a very strong desire to help students thoroughly
explore and take full advantage of learning opportunities, and to labor mightily to inspire them to persevere in the face of challenging tasks.
My own contribution to America’s ethnic diversity as a Salvadoran American is complemented by the fact that I am a native speaker and
writer of two languages, English and Spanish. One of the reasons why I especially look forward to working with and inspiring students
from minority ethnic populations such as Latino, Korean, Chinese, etc., is the fact that many if not most of these young people are among
America’s few fully bilingual people who have multiple native languages. I feel strongly that advanced language skills in multiple languages
is great honor and responsibility that needs to be more appreciated by many multilingual, minority students. As a counselor who is himself
a member of an ethnic minority community, I hope to have the privilege of spending the rest of my professional life helping students to
turn their gifts and strengths into fuller educational opportunities by addressing self-esteem issues and the problems and hurdles that tend to
be faced by minority youth.

Why Our Prices are So Reasonable Compared to Our Competition.
Helping people with their Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (different phrases for the same thing) is big business on the Internet.
No one really knows for sure since it is not regulated in any way; but it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of students seek help each year
with their Statement. This is because advanced study is so central to what they want for their future, and the future of their children. A well
written Statement often results in scholarship awards of tens of thousands of dollars—in other words, it is generally a good investment for both
the long and short term, a win/win situation. As a result, there are now hundreds of services providing Personal Statement of Purpose
assistance on the Internet and all have invested huge amounts of resources in an attempt to become competitive and stay that way.
We are able to keep our prices as reasonable as possible primarily because our writing team is based in the developing world: China, India,
Bolivia, etc. For one reason or another, family, the beach, economic living, working with a non-profit organization, etc.; all of our writers are
ex-pats with advanced degrees who choose to live primarily in the developing world. Some of our writers are activists, others social workers;
some are semi-retired. We are a team of North American (U.S. and Canadian) and British writers trained in a variety of areas including
Business, Law, Nursing, Public Administration, Education, Social Work, Engineering, and Biology. We share in common the fact that we enjoy
helping others achieve their dreams. It is also important to note that our writers work for less than professional writers in the US or Europe,
since we pass our developing world savings on to you--our client. And our General Manager assures you of state-of-the-art quality at the same
time that you receive maximum value for your investment..
Our prices are much more reasonable than our major competitors; www.accepted.com, for example, based in New York, charges $650.00 if
you are willing to wait, and $850.00 if you are in a hurry. Thus, we invite you to become part of a growing portion of those purchasing
assistance with their Personal Statement of Purpose on the Internet who are very glad that they turned to www.statementsofpurpose.com to
take advantage of the great value of our full, interview based service. Most people miss out because they do not know what is important to put
into their personal statement—and what is not. And this can be expensive because universities are generally very wealthy institutions that give
away billions of dollars of scholarship money to graduate students—but only to those that have very well-written Statements. It is best to seek
professional help and no one is better at this than we are. They just charge more money.
If you are available to answer any interview questions that we might have by email, then we can almost always finish your essay within no more than 3 days from the time that you make the payment on our web site and provide us with the information that we need. This is one of the great advantages of our service, that we provide rapid, timely service without asking clients for a rush fee. If you want changes made to the model essay that we send you, you must first make the indicated changes yourself. Then we will be happy to provide a final revision at no extra charge.

We do not charge a rush fee. Rather, we struggle every day, 7 days a week, to give all of our clients the best and quickest service possible. Our service has become quite popular since the quality of our work is very high and our prices quite reasonable as compared with most of our competitors. We attend to our clients in the order in which they have paid our fee here on our web site. Please note that our process often takes as up to 4 days, generally at least 3 days from the time that you have made your payment and finished submitting the information that you want taken into consideration. After making the payment, if you think of additional information that you would like to include in your statement and share it with us, please do so in an email message so that we will have that text to add to your file.
We generally use www.PayPal.com for your security and convenience. All that you need to do is fill out our Online Interview Form with sufficient detail and be sure to submit the information by clicking on the "Send Feedback" button. Sending us a resume or CV is important if you have one; and a rough draft is also very helpful as it helps to retain the authenticity of your unique voice. Please note that you do not need to register or open an account with PayPal or become a member of the service, all you need to do is follow the link next to the credit card icons that says 'continue' to pay with your credit or debit card. Our web site is set up so that you can make your payment either before or after you fill out our Online Interview Form. You can send supporting documents to our email at team@statementsofpurpose.com.
