Your Guarantee
The most important guarantee that you have that our service is 100%
reliable, that we will be there for you to do all that we can to help you
throughout the process, is the fact that we depend heavily on word-of-mouth
recommendations to get additional clients. Many of our clients have been
recommended to us by a friend or associate. People who are in the process of
applying to graduate school, generally speaking, also have friends who are
more or less at the same point in their career development, your colleagues,
people who you are graduating with from your undergraduate program. If
you are pleased with our service, then please recommend us to your friends!
And please rest assured that we will work to the full extent of our ability to
make your application as effective as possible and that we will be there for
you throughout the process, to advise you and answer any questions that you
might have concerning your application. Send us anything and everything
that you think might be helpful!
Your Strategic Investment
The Statement of Purpose is enormously important since it serves as a basis for
admissions committees to choose between otherwise equally qualified applicants.
Dr. Edinger works as a team with his clients to produce the most effective
Statement of Purpose possible. Usually, if our clients have a resume, they send it
to us. They also tell us why they want to study in that particular field. We are also
happy to work with the rough draft of the Statement that the client has written
along with the information that you provide in your Interview, using the
information like building blocks, organizing and rewriting it to be as effective as
possible. Again, we need at least a very rough couple of a couple of paragraphs that
provide us with basic information. We can also interview you by email and the
telephone to the extent to which it is necessary, asking you relevant questions.

We have learned that it is generally best to tell the review committee straight up
front why you want to go to their school in particular. Often, there is a
combination of factors involved, the quality and the special focus of the program,
as well as its location. Local area resources are sometimes very important. Many
applicants, for example, are already well established in the area where they apply
to go to school. You are competing against numerous other candidates; this is
especially true with respect to financial aid. What you have to do, therefore, is
convince the committee that for one reason or another you deserve the position
more than other candidates. Include in your rough draft anything that you think
will help to bolster your argument that you are someone with an exceptional
moral/social character: professional experience, extracurricular activities, especially
volunteer work, even hobbies. The other way to look at this is that the committee
is searching for people that they would like to have in their department, pleasant,
interesting people. We believe strongly that they also like people who are generally
interested in the welfare of others.

Graduate schools are very tied to numbers; your exam scores are the single most
important factor, because they represent objective evidence of your qualifications.
This is one of the reasons why it is a good idea, in most cases, to apply to more
than one school, usually at least three, and schools with a varied range of
selectiveness. Thus, if you do not get accepted at your first or second choice, at
least you may get accepted somewhere. The committee has to choose between
many students with more or less good scores and this is where the SOP comes in: it
makes the final difference. When forced to choose between two well qualified
applicants with very similar exam scores, the committee will choose the student
that they think has the most creative ideas; because that student most deserves the
opportunity. That is why your Statement is so important. A well-written
Statement can also result in a large scholarship award or a teaching or research
assistantship.
Dr. Edinger has a Ph.D from the University of Southern California in Religion and Social
Ethics and a Master's degree in the same field from Indiana University. He also attended the
University of Illinois for one year where he taught in the Intensive English Institute. The
photo on the right is of Dr. Edinger at a party with some of his students (in the black
T-shirt). The following school year, he had the privilege of teaching in the Department of
English Philology at the University of Barcelona in Spain. He has also taught at the
University of Southern California, Indiana University, and the National Universities of El
Salvador and Nicaragua, as well as Business English at the Seoul National University of
Technology and Shin Heung College in South Korea (1997-98).
Statement of Purpose
The Statement of Purpose is the single most important part of your application. While
information on your past work is important, it is only relevant insofar as it helps the
admissions committee to better understand and appreciate why you want to focus on the
problems that currently interest you. The admissions committee is primarily concerned
with learning about your current and future research interests and how they coincide, in
other words, how the research that you have already done has prepared you for the
research that you want to do in the future.

A shorter Statement of Purpose that is clearly written is generally better than a longer
one. A Statement longer than one to three pages of normal type and normal margin is
generally considered less favorable than the recommended statement of shorter length.
A successful personal statement is a literate, elegantly written essay in which the student
highlights her strong preparation for her intended area of study, articulates her planned
area of study and her goals after completing this study, and demonstrates her facility
with current theory and practice in this area.

In other words, why do you want to go to grad school? How have you prepared for
graduate study thus far? What will you study when you are there? What theories and
methods do you find most congenial in terms of your area of study? With whom do you
want to study, and why? Name the scholars you've found most inspirational or
influential. You've chosen the schools to which you're applying on that basis, anyway,
haven't you? You must state your reasons for wanting to attend THAT particular
graduate program.) And finally, what do you plan to do with this degree once you earn it?
Writing Sample
In addition to a given university's application requirements, each department often has
special or specific requirements, and this frequently includes a writing sample from all
applicants to the M.A. and Ph.D. Programs. The admissions committees are looking for
a Senior Paper, Honors or Master's Thesis, published paper, or comparable written
work giving evidence of both writing ability and the capacity for research, analysis, and
original thought at the graduate level, and demonstrating the ability to use theory in
relation to evidence. Papers originally written in a language other than English must be
submitted in English translation. Other things being equal, a short, effectively written
sample is preferable to a longer sample. If you decide to submit a longer sample, you
should indicate which 10-12 pages should be reviewed by the admissions committee.
I would be happy to review and edit your writing sample as well as helping you
with your SOP.
The two should be carefully coordinated and this is one of the
most important features of my service
Multiple Drafts to Different Schools
At StatementsofPurpose.com, we work with many clients who are applying
to more than one school. We have worked with clients who have applied to as
many as 12 different graduate departments at the same time. Those applying
to around 6 or 7 schools are much more common. The other magic number
appears to be three schools. And, one has to deal with the fact that, the more
schools that you apply to, the more one finds oneself stretching the truth a
bit, telling each school, more or less, that this particular program is one's first
choice, at least implying that this is the case. This part is very important and
the wording here needs to be subtle. I suggest saying something like: "I am
convinced that X department at Y University is the best match for the
directions of my research interests and my very high level of motivation." I
also recommend that you include one to three sentences detailing which
professors you especially look forward to studying under.
When you take into consideration the fact that we do each additional draft for
as little as $40.00 each, and that we do a thoroughgoing search of the faculty
and their research interests in that particular department, as well as the general
resources of the university, especially research and conference centers, this
represents a very sound investment in your future.
No matter how many schools that you apply to,
you MUST tailor each essay
to each particular program.
A general essay simply will not do. This is why
our service of tailoring each draft to that particular department is of such
critical importance.
All we need is a couple of paragraphs telling us who you are and why you want to go to
graduate school. A resume is very helpful. I would also like to interview you by email after
reviewing your material.
Let's work together as a team to create a masterpiece!

Our service is especially useful for those clients who are applying
to several schools since we research these programs on the client's
behalf, on both university and department web sites, so as to tell
the admissions committee why you are especially compatible
with that particular program, and this is often the key to success.
If you apply to 10 schools,  for example, we can provide you
with 9 additional drafts at only $40.00-$50.00 per draft (for
programs in the same discipline), each tailored to a specific
program ($80.00-$100 for re-wites for another discipline). This
could be an especially important, strategic investment on your
part. Please be sure to confirm the precise length limit for each of
the schools to which you are applying, in either words or pages
and also spacing.  In some cases, we end up writing drafts of
several different lengths, most frequently 500, 750, 1000, 1500 or
2000 words. The rapid (no rush charge) and extremely high
quality of our service is an opportunity that we hope you will not
only take advantage of, but also tell your friends and colleagues
about our service. We  depend on word of word-of-mouth
recommendation for finding additional clients. About one quarter
of our new clients have been recommended by a current or former
client
We edit/write dozens of Personal Statements of Purpose each
month and it is something that we have come to enjoy and take
very seriously. And as you can see from a review of samples of our
work, we are good at what we do. This is because Dr. Edinger and
our team have spent many years investigating what makes a
Personal Statement of Purpose most effective.
Space is very limited and competitive in many programs and some
students are turned away for a weak essay alone. Your
competition often uses professional help; do you want to be one
of those turned away because their essay is better than yours?

Note: All of the anonymous samples that are listed on this site are Statements that Dr. Edinger
wrote several years ago. By now, all of this material is likely to have been listed by academic
and commercial anti-plagiarism programs used by many admissions committees to judge the
authenticity of Personal Statements for graduate and professional programs. (Two of the more
prominent of these efforts are
www.turnitin.com and www.ithenticate.com) These samples are
listed here only to inspire you. If you use some of this text quoted word for word, your
application could be rejected as at least partly
plagiarized.

We do not charge a rush fee. Rather, we struggle every day, 7 days a
week, to give all of our clients the best and quickest service
possible. Our service has become quite popular since the quality of
our work is very high and our prices are quite reasonable as
compared with our major competitors. As a result, we are able to
provide prompt attention only to those clients who have paid for
our services. We attend to our clients in the order in which they
have paid our fee here on our web site. After you have made your
payment, you will be redirected to our thank you page where you
will be invited to make a note of our cell phone number to get in
touch if needed. We much prefer, however, communicating with you
on Yahoo Messenger and we are available all day long and usually 7
days a week. Please do not try to give ur information about yourself
that is relevant for your Statement over the phone since we need
this in text form in order to include in your Statement. But you can
feel free to call us to verify, for example, when we will be able to
send the draft for your review, or to verify that we have all of the
information that we need. After making the payment and filling out
our Online Interview Form, if you think of additional information
that you would like to include in your statement, please send it to
us in an email message so that we can add this to your file.
Our prices are much more reasonable than our major competitors; www.accepted.com, for example,
based in New York, charges $650.00 if you are willing to wait, and $850.00 if you are in a hurry.
This seems very ‘First World’ to us. We invite you to become part of a growing portion of those
purchasing assistance with their Personal Statement of Purpose on the Internet who are very glad
that they turned to
www.statementsofpurpose.com to take advantage of the great value of our full,
interview based service with custom, key, strategic questions sent to you personally by Dr.
Edinger. Most people miss out because they do not know what is important to put into their
personal statement—and what is not. And this can be expensive because universities are generally
very wealthy institutions that give away billions of dollars of scholarship money to graduate
students—but only to those that have very well-written Statements. It is best to seek professional
help and no one is better at this than we are. They just charge more money.
Our full  service price begins at $125.00, depending on the
length of your material and where you were born. We offer a
very significant discount to people born in the developing
world.

Why Our Prices are So Reasonable Compared to Our
Competition.
Helping people with their Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose
(different phrases for the same thing) is big business on the Internet.
No one really knows for sure since it is not regulated in any way; but it
is estimated that hundreds of thousands of students seek help each
year with their Statement. This is because advanced study is so central
to what they want for their future, and the future of their children. A
well written Statement often results in scholarship awards of tens of
thousands of dollars—in other words, it is generally a good investment
for both the long and short term, a win/win situation. As a result, there
are now hundreds of services providing Personal Statement of Purpose
assistance on the Internet and all have invested huge amounts of
resources in an attempt to become competitive and stay that way.

We are able to keep our prices as reasonable as possible primarily
because our writing team is based in the developing world: China, India,
Bolivia, etc.  For one reason or another, family, the beach, economic
living, working with a non-profit organization, etc.; all of our writers
are ex-pats with advanced degrees who choose to live primarily in the
developing world. Some of our writers are activists, others social
workers; some are semi-retired. We are a team of North American (U.S.
and Canadian) and British writers trained in a variety of areas including
Business, Law, Nursing, Public Administration, Education, Social
Work, Engineering, and Biology.  We share in common the fact that we
enjoy helping others achieve their dreams.  It is also important to note
that our writers work for less than professional writers in the US or
Europe, since we pass our developing world savings on to you--our
client. And our General Manager assures you of state-of-the-art quality
at the same time that you receive maximum value for your investment..

Our prices are much more reasonable than our major competitors;
www.accepted.com, for example, based in New York, charges $650.00

We can almost always send an initial draft for your

now and are available to answer any interview
questions that we might have by email, then we can
almost always finish your essay within no more than
3 days from the time that you make the payment on
our web site and provide us with the information
that we need. This is one of the great advantages of
our service, that we provide rapid, timely service
without asking clients for a rush fee. If you want
changes made to the document that we send you, we
ask you to make a few changes yourself first, if you
want a free, final revision. If you don't like
something, please cut it out before you send it to us
for the second reading!
