In the first year of my editing service, I edited an extensive dissertation in the field of education concerning the
relationship between nationalism and ideology in Taiwan's educational system. I am quite knowledgeable, generally
speaking, about Chinese/Taiwanese history and culture and highly sensitive to the issues that are frequently
addressed by Taiwanese/Chinese students and scholars, which is why I especially enjoy working on behalf of
Taiwanese/Chinese clients.
After completing my doctoral degree at the University
of Southern California, I attended the University of
Illinois for one year, where I taught ESL and studied
in the Department of English as an International
Language. I made many Chinese friends in this
program and learned very much about what it means
to be Taiwanese as well as Chinese; in other words,
what it means to be both. I am fascinated by this dual
identity. I am also intrigued with the way that this
dual identity plays itself out in Taiwanese politics.

I have long been involved with and
have enjoyed important bonds with
Chinese and Taiwanese culture.
Many of my most important clients
have been Taiwanese and several
have been from mainland China. One
of my closest personal friends has
lived in Taiwan for many years
where he makes his living as an
editor. I hope to visit him at some
point in the future. I am especially
mesmerized by things Chinese and
have a deep and profound respect for
Chinese culture, intellectuality, art,
etc. As I have the privilege to work
with Chinese and Taiwanese clients,
I have the opportunity to learn more
about China and Taiwan, which
brings me great pleasure. I also look
to China as the premier
up-and-coming world power; thus I
have great hope that my
grandchildren may be able to live in a
world with less fear and more hope
for the future as I am confident that
the Chinese will be excellent world
leaders.
