Ethnicity can be especially relevant and sometimes fundamental to both the application process
and the direction of research interest. And this is true in many areas or disciplines. Especially if
you are a person of color, often, we can provide a special bang in your essay that is rather

Caucasians--at least in some areas such as Social Work--to account in some way for their ethnic
makeup and its relevance to their professional identity. Sometimes, it can be assumed; "born and
